Safari 4 beta preview

Apple has just launch Safari 4 beta to public few days ago. Safari 4 has many improvement on interfaces beside new rendering engine used.

Safari 4 now has the tab bar on the top of window. Each tab can be drag out of the tab bar to make new window or drag tab from one window to another one, much like Chrome.

Not satisfied implementing cover flow in Finder on OSX Leopard, Apple try to implement this feature on Safari too. You can view the cover flow when browsing you bookmark, history, and searching your history.

Safari has another eye candy feature called Top Sites, which show a nice thumbnail preview of your most visited sites at startup. Much like what Chrome have but look much nicer.

Safari probably the first beta stage browser that pass the acid3 test, since Opera 10 still in alpha stage.

I must admit, Safari 4 beta is still on top of the list of rendering and javascript execution speed. I tested it with a small script and SunSpider. But unfortunately, Safari 4 is really bloated and use too much resource especially memory. Just try to browse some web sites for a while with 3 or 5 tabs open and it’ll hit 100MB memory usage in no time.
