Flock 2 Review
Another Mozilla-based browser poping-out new version as an after effect of Firefox 3 release. This new version mainly focus on adding some social network services aside from updating to new layout engine.
Flock user interface almost doesn’t have any changes, even the icon sets are still the same in my opinion. The developers might be wanted to keep Flock’s unique style the same as ever. But now you can download two new themes from Flock website if you got bored with its default theme anyway.
You can see the full list of new services added to Flock from Accounts and Services section. Unfortunately, Flock still using cookie to manage the auto-login for the accounts and you still need to visit the service provider sites to login (if you haven’t). Many users suggest that Flock should able to login without redirecting user to service providers site, but somehow it still haven’t been implemented yet.
The blog editor doesn’t change much either. Although this feature is helpful for posting blog, i don’t use it much since it’s not suitable for posting multi language blog such as this one.
Flock is still the main choice for interacting with social network sites (such as Facebook) and uploading photos to online photo storage (such as Flickr). There are many user who suggest Flock to add service for Plurk and it seems got a positive response from the developer team. We’ll see whether Plurk will be avaiable on Flock or not on the next update.
Flock 2 consume much more memory resources than Firefox 3. Obviously it’s because Flock alse have much more built-in features than Firefox, and it’ll stacking-up on every update i guess.
