On the first day of lebaran, our family do some routines such as ‘nyekar’ and visiting relatives house in Cirebon from after Ied prayer until evening. On the way back to hotel, my big brother suddenly feels hungry and pop-up an idea to have some snacks, and all of us agree to that idea. At first we decided to order a pizza at Kartini street, but we lose our chance to enjoy an evening pizza are vanish because the Pizza Hut is neatly close. Still in high spirit to grab some snacks, we continue our journey to the road right in front of the hotel, hoping that there’s one or two snack seller on the road. Unfortunately, not even a single seller is there.

A little hunger sensation drive us to order snacks from a fast food restaurant that usually can be found anywhere you go (read: McD). With the ultimate number (14045) in hand, i made a call to order some food, and here’s (much less) the conversation log:

*tuut … tuut … then a guy picked up the call
McD : McD Delivery, is there something i can help sir?
Me : Yes, i want to order a delivery.
McD : Please state your phone number sir
Me : 08xx xxxxxx (* not mine *)
McD : it’s under Mr. Aji, and the location are xxx hospital sir?

what? a hospital?

Me : No, it’s not. I’m in Cirebon right now.
McD : is it in Center Java sir?

what the … how come Cirebon is in Center Java?

Me : It’s not in Center Java, it’s West Java.
McD : I see … in West java …

there’s a silence in a moment…

McD : I’m sorry sir, it seems there’s no McD branches available in Cirebon
Me : there’s no McD in Cirebon?!
McD : That’s right sir.
Me : Thank you.

I hang up the phone with some odd feelings, is it true that there’s no McD available in Cirebon? Thus i try to call 14045 once again, who knows that the previous operator was making a mistake.

*tuut … tuut … this time a female operator picked up the call
McD : McD Delivery, may i help you with something sir?
Me : I want to order a delivery please
McD : Your contact number sir?
Me : 08xx xxxxxx (* still not mine *)
McD : It’s under Mr. Aji on xxx hospital?
Me : No, i’m in Cirebon.
McD : Cirebon … is it near Bogor sir?

geez … now she guess Cirebon is near Bogor …

Me : It’s not near Bogor miss, it’s in West Java.
McD : So it isn’t near Bogor …

here goes the same a moment of silence … even i have a hunch what her answer will be.

McD : Unfortunately, there’s no McD branches in Cirebon sir.
Me : I see… Thank you.

I hang-up the phone and still curious about it. I’m still not giving up the snack (BigMac) and try to call (0231)108.

* tuut … tuut … and the one who picked up the call is a machine.
108 : Please call Telkom Directory for Bandung area

I put the cellphone down for a moment and take a deep breath. It seems that only Cirebon doesn’t have any McD, but also 108 directory. Oh well, i just try call (022)108.

* tuut … tuut … it’s a guy again.
108 : Good evening sir, what can i do for you?
Me : I would like to know phone numbers for McD branches in Cirebon please.
108 : Just one moment sir …

I’m waiting for his response with hope…

108 : I’m sorry sir, McD branches in Cirebon are not registered in our directory.
Me : I see … Thank you very much.

So much for my BigMac …

Although McD food chances as our evening snack are vanished, our hunger are still remain. We have further discussion and decide to try KFC. I recall (022)108 and, to make long story short, i got the numbers. I eagerly call the KFC using the numbers i just got.

* tuut … tuut … it’s a woman again.
KFC : KFC, may i help you?
Me : I want to order a delivery please
KFC : I’m sorry sir, please call 14022 for delivery orders.
Me : What?! Can’t i just make an order directly from here?
KFC : No sir, you must make an order using 14022.
Me : Oh well … thanks.

Again, i take a deep breath to calm myself. I call 14022 and hopefully there won’t be a problem this time, and at last i’m on the right track. After a long wait, we finally able to enjoy an evening snack.

It give me so much trouble just to have some snacks. But at least, i learn something from it.
