Saya tidak punya bakat menggambar. Dari sejak saya TK sampai sekarang kalau disuruh menggambar seusuatu pasti tidak karuan. Jangankan orang lain yang melihat, saya sendiri pasti akan menilai gambar saya sangat jelek. Disaat dunia sudah mengenal berbagai perangkat lunak canggih yang digunakan untuk membuat atau memproses gambar seperti Photoshop, Illustrator, atau Corel Draw, saya tetap enggan menggunakannya karena baru saja aplikasi berjalan saya sudah bingung harus berbuat apa

I don’t have any gift if it’s about drawing since i’m in kindergarden until now. Every time i draw something, the result would be terrible. Even there’s some cool software for drawing or image editing such Photoshop, Illustrator, or Core Draw, i rather stay away because it’ll make me confuse as soon as i run the software

Beberapa hari lalu karena alasan tertentu saya ingin membuat wallpaper untuk layar desktop yang berwarna latar hitam. Entah kenapa tiba-tiba saya nekat untuk mencoba untuk menggambar sesuatu menggunakan Corel Draw.

For some reasons, few days ago i want to make a wallpaper that can be used with black background desktop. Before i realize it, i already in front of computer and daring myself to draw something using Corel Draw.

Begitu membuka aplikasi saya (seperti biasa) langsung bingung harus berbuat apa. Sambil setelah cukup lama bengong melihat layar akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk membuat logo bhindz baru. Sebagai langkah awal, saya mencari-cari font yang cocok untuk huruf ‘it’ yang disambung, dan yang saya pilih adalah font seperti ini:

I petrified as soon as i run the software, as usual. After spending a lot of time glaring at the monitor, finally i decided to make a new bhindz logo. For a start, i search a font that suitable of letter ‘it’ that will be connected. The one i choose is this one:

Setelah itu saya kembali bingung bagaimana caranya menggabungkan kedua huruf tersebut. Berbagai cara (lebih tepatnya coba-coba) sudah saya lakukan tapi tetap saja tidak bisa nyambung . Dan setelah sangat lama waktu berlalu akhirnya saya baru menyadari bahwa saya harus “break” beberapa titik sebelum dapat disambungkan dengan titik lain, bodohnya . Hasil sementara seperti ini:

Soon after, i wandering around aimlessly about how to connect those letter. I tried many things (trial-and-error for more spesific) and turn to be fail. It took me a very long time to realize that i have to break some points before i can connect points in one letter to another one, how stupid . For now, the result look like this:

Bentuk dasar logo sudah jadi, selanjutnya adalah mempercantik logo. Saya mencoba-coba beberapa efek seperti kontur dan perspektif. Hasilnya jadi agak aneh.

The basic shape for the logo is done, the next thing to do is to make it fancier. I tried some effects such as contour adn perspective but the result was quite weird.

Saya tambahkan lingkaran berwarna jingga tebal yang mengelilingi logo awal dan saya beri efek lensa ‘tinted greyscale’ supaya warna konturnya menjadi lebih gelap.

So i added a thick orange circle surrounding the basic logo and gave it tinted greyscale effect to make the contour darker.

Tadinya saya sudah ingin berhenti sampai disitu, tetapi setelah dilihat lagi sepertinya masih bisa dipercantik lagi. Akhirnya saya nekat mencoba tips dan trik yang pernah saya baca (lupa dari mana) untuk membuat objek menjadi lebih ‘glossy’. Lingkaran jingga-nya saja jadikan tipis lalu saya tambahkan lingkaran jingga solid dengan efek gradien dilapisan paling bawah sehingga warna latar lingkaran dalam menjadi perak gelap. Setelah itu saya tambahkan sebuah objek putih yang telah diberi efek transparan di setengah lingkaran atas untuk melengkapi efek ‘glossy’. Hasil akhirnya adalah seperi dibawah ini:

At first i want to stop right there. But after take another look it seems that i can still make it a little bit better. And then i dare myself again to try some tips and tricks i have read (i forgot the source) to make object have a glossy effect. I made the orange circle thinner than adding a solid orange circle with gradien effect on the lowest layer. It make inner circle became dark silver-like color. After that i added a white object with transparent effect on the half-top region of the circle to complete the glossy effect. The final result look like this:

Walau saya yakin gambar ini masih tergolong jelek, saya cukup puas dengan hasil akhirnya. Paling tidak baru pertama kali saya melihat gambar buatan sendiri dan kata ‘lumayan’ muncul sebagai nilai untuk gambar tersebut, hehe. Bagi yang sudah ahli menggambar, silahkan jika ingin memberi tanggapan atau saran kepada pemula seperti saya ini

I satisfied with the result, althought i’m sure it’s might be still a terrible one. But at least it’s the first i have a “not bad” judgement for that logo in my mind, hehe.
