Do you know about Super Extra Hot Ramen challenge in Gokkana Teppan? You can read the details here in Upik’s place if you don’t. We celebrating independence day by trying to fulfill the challenge, accompanied by Diaz that came to Bandung from Cikarang. It seems that there are many people celebrating independence day by lunch in GK (Gokana Teppan). We forced to wait our turn to have some seats since the restaurant is full. We took a brief look on photos at the Wall of Fame while waiting for the seats and wondering whether our photo will be one of them, hehe.

Soon after we have our turn to seat at last. After screening the menu i decided to order Super Extra Hot Ebimaki Ramen while Indz order Super Extra Hot Chicken Ramen. I also order a melon juice, just in case if i need it to counter the hot taste. For some reason it takes a long time for the ramen to came to our table, very unusual. Perhaps they boil it long enough to make it hotter since the title of the challenge are Super Extra Hot.

After a long wait, the ramen came with some steam on the air. I asked the waiter to brief us the rule once more to buy some time hoping the ramen would be a little bit colder, unfortunately it was vain. The challenge begun right after the waiter set timer, here goes nothing.

In the first five minutes we could easily ate the ramen without any problem, although i have to admit it was REALLY hot. The toughest, full of struggle, and time wasting part are when we have to drink all the soup. It would be easier if there’s something else to eat with the soup because it taste like a pure chilli soup.

It feels like the soup never decreased in volume even after 10 minutes pass. I forced to drink the melon juice again and again to calm my burning stomach because of that super hot soup.

After 13 minutes, Indz already finish eating the ramen and rise the Super Extra Hot Ramen sign. A waiter came and check whether the bowl are clean and then he blew the whistle followed by victory drum and yell “Yatta!!… Yatta!!”.

How about me? Well, there’s some soup left and i still have an ebimaki and salad to chew. After struggling a little bit more, i finish the ramen 3 minutes after and the victory drum performed once again. At last it’s over.

My stomach feels very full and hot after ate a whole very spicy ramen. I still have some melon juice to make my stomach feel a little bit better fortunately. Not long after we took a short break, the waiter gave us the free Gokana 6 meal voucher that valid until October. Nice ^_^

But apparently our photo won’t be placed on the Wall of Fame. It gave us a lot effort to finish one portion while we have to win the challeng 3 times to make ourselves placed in the Wall of Fame. I decided not to have any other meal today. My stomach still feels full even when i write this post. Eventhough it was a great struggle for someone who dislike spicy food like me to eat that Super Extra Hot Ramen, trying a challenge like this are quite fun ^_^
